The Story behind the design
The courtship of two young cats, the chubby girl sitting on a Vespa who was expecting an awesome gift from her masculine boyfriend. Of course, he knows that she is an ardent urban gardener and had brought with him a huge Philodendron billitiae which he hid behind him. This tiffin is inspired by our friend Yati and Eddie who are British Shorthair breeders who would go around on their bike looking for plants in the jungle.

The Designer
MarVal Tiffins was co-created by two people brought together by the boredom that arose during the recent lockdown in KL.
Both Mardiana Rahayu and Valerie Tan (hence the name MarVal Tiffins) are architecturally trained and have three things in common – the appreciation of food, the taste for all things beautiful and their love for animals particularly cats. They have between the two of them 15 cats, two dogs and a sugar glider.
What started off as a covid-lockdown time-filler became an accidental business venture when the tiffins they made, using modern decoupage montaging techniques became very sought after by families and friends.
MarVal produces ‘premium and luxury’ tiffin designs that are handmade with many of the patterns and artwork created in-house. Their most sought after series by far is the ‘Kucingku Beraya” and “Manekineko” series. They pride themselves with the uniqueness of their designs and the quality of workmanship that is truly a cut above those currently available in the market locally.
Since they started 3 months ago, they have made and ‘rehomed’ over 200 tiffins to faraway places such as Singapore, Brunei and Inner Mongolia as well as locally.
The MarVal duo dreams of saving the universe with their sustainability-driven and environmentally-sensitive tiffins!
